Scheduling For a Conditional Use Permit

Conditional Use Permits require a public hearing and these are scheduled, as needed, on the 3rd Monday of the month.

An application, with payment, for a C.U.P. needs to be in to the planning and zoning administrator no later than the last day of the month, prior to the month that the hearing is scheduled for (i.e. June 30th for a July hearing). Once the application has been submitted there are no refunds as application fees are used to cover the costs of the public hearing, including notification costs involved with mailings and newspaper notices.

At the public hearing the C.U.P. will be considered by the Planning and Zoning Commission and either recommended for approval by the Town Board, or not. The application will be either approved or denied at the monthly Town Board meeting held on the last Wednesday of each month. If approved by the Town Board the applicant is advised to check with Sibley County for possible further requirements by the county.

Scheduling for a Variance

Variance Permits require a public hearing and these are scheduled, as needed, on the 3rd Monday of the month.

An application, with payment, for a Variance needs to be in to the planning and zoning administrator no later than the last day of the month, prior to the month that the hearing is scheduled for (i.e. June 30th for a July hearing). Once the application has been submitted there are no refunds as application fees are used to cover the costs of the public hearing, including notification costs involved with mailings and newspaper notices.

At the public hearing the Variance will be considered by a Board of Adjustment. The 3 member board will either approve or deny the Variance. Denials may be appealed to the District Court.
